Platform Revenue Cutoff Testing
Financial auditing guidance for platform revenue cutoff testing — from boundary maps to partner-ready exception language.
Who this is for
Associates and seniors who test marketplace, storefront, or hybrid app revenue and need a repeatable cutoff approach that mirrors how platforms actually settle days.
Engagement managers in Korea and regional offices use the same templates to standardize review comments across multiple clients.
Learning outcomes
- Build a period-boundary map linking storefront clocks, settlement files, and recognition policy.
- Design stratified samples that weight late-day and high-velocity SKUs.
- Document exceptions with severity language that partners can reuse.
- Identify where deferred bundles create false comfort around cut dates.
Modules
Each module ends with a lab file you can paste into your firm’s workpaper system.
-
01
Platform revenue shapes
Marketplace take rates, subscription renewals, and hybrid SKUs — what changes at the cut line.
-
02
Boundary mapping
Align timezone policies, settlement latency, and recognition cutoffs on one diagram.
-
03
Settlement file walkthroughs
Trace delayed batches and identify transactions that cross the period incorrectly.
-
04
Sample design under concentration
Stratify for late-day spikes and top SKUs without inflating sample size blindly.
-
05
Exception narratives
Write findings that distinguish timing slips from design gaps.
-
06
Review readiness
Assemble a partner packet: map, selections, exceptions, and residual risk note.

Learner notes
Module 4’s stratification table replaced our ad-hoc spreadsheet. We still had to adapt columns for a client with multi-currency wallets, which took an evening.
Office hours answered a concrete settlement lag question we had on an ongoing file. Worth the calendar block.
FAQ
Is this a substitute for firm methodology?
No. The course complements your firm’s methodology with platform-specific examples. You remain responsible for applying local standards and partner guidance.
Do you cover Korean GAAP and K-IFRS differences?
We reference K-IFRS presentation notes where cutoff intersects recognition disclosures, but the labs focus on evidence procedures rather than full standard interpretation.
What is a real limitation of this course?
We do not provide live access to any production platform ledger. All labs use anonymized extracts. If your client uses a proprietary settlement schema, you will need internal help to map field names.
Can teams share one login?
Seats are per learner. Contact us for team pricing on the Field Sampler through Engagement Lead paths.
